About Me

I believe the most powerful photographs aren't the ones where everyone smiles on cue—they're the ones that capture who you really are when you forget the camera is there.

Meet MacKayla

My approach to photography is rooted in storytelling. I work exclusively on location, seeking out natural light and breathtaking landscapes that become part of your narrative. Whether we're chasing golden hour in the red rocks of Colorado or in the crashing turquoise waters of Hawai'i, my goal is always the same: to create images that feel like art, not just documentation.

My style

Moody. Cinematic. Emotional.

I'm drawn to shadow and light, to the weight of a moment, to images that make you feel something. My editing style leans into rich tones, depth, and atmosphere—think fine art meets editorial storytelling. It is a work in progress and I can't wait to see it improve.

Where I am now

I'm in the exciting early stages of really learning my technique, crafting my style, and slowly building my business, which means I'm actively seeking couples and women who want to collaborate on creating stunning imagery together. If you're drawn to my aesthetic and want professional, gallery-worthy portraits without the traditional price tag, let's connect.

Beyond the camera

My name is MacKayla. I was born + raised in Indiana, before relocating to Hawai'i and meeting my husband. I have lived in Colorado for 2.5 years, with plans to relocate back to Oahu, Hawai'i within the upcoming year. I'm a mother of three children; Olivia, 8; Devin, 6; Luca, 1 year in February 2026.

I grew up with a photographer as a mom. This meant coming home from school, getting photos taken of me no matter what I was doing. There are photos of me eating somewhere!

I dabbled in photos a little bit, but I never felt like it was my calling. Instead, I got into modeling. Here we are years later and I still ended up behind the lens (just as my mom thought I would) and I'm thankful I did. Editing is my first love, so learning the camera has been a lot of fun.
